Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, SC, Brazil

I am Professor of Ecology, Ethnobotany, Ethnoecology and Human Ecology at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. My research interests are related to the local use of plant resources and their implications for the conservation of the biodiversity in a dynamic context. In this sense, I believe in the importance of the valorization of traditional knowledge as a tool for both biodiversity conservation and local development. I have been seving as Associate Editor (Ethnobotan) for Acta Botanica Brasilica since March 2014. My interests other than science include travel, sports, cello music, and good food.

When authors publish in Acta Botanica Brasilica they receive additional benefits:

  • In partnership with SciELO we provide our articles free to readers (open access);
  • Our open access papers are more likely to be cited;
  • There is no cost for publication for SBB members;
  • The efficiency of our evaluation process will surprise you (averaging less than 60 days);
  • We are indexed in the major databases such as Web of Science/Clarivate Analytics, Biological Abstracts, Scopus and others.
