I am currently Professor of Cryptogamae Taxonomy at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. As a researcher, my interests have focused on the physiology of algae and aspects of the community ecology of phytoplankton. I have served as Assistant Editor for Acta since February 2015. In addition to my interests in botany, I enjoy observing all kinds of interactions among species of different taxonomic groups, but I particularly love bird behavior. I like to play sports and enjoy the opportunities it provides to meet and socialize with different people, including those with other professional interests.

When authors publish in Acta Botanica Brasilica they receive additional benefits:

  • In partnership with SciELO we provide our articles free to readers (open access);
  • Our open access papers are more likely to be cited;
  • There is no cost for publication for SBB members;
  • The efficiency of our evaluation process will surprise you (averaging less than 60 days);
  • We are indexed in the major databases such as Web of Science/Clarivate Analytics, Biological Abstracts, Scopus and others.
