Publication Fees

Acta Botanica Brasilica charges a fee of R$800.00 (eight hundred Brazilian reais) per article accepted for publication. There is no submission or evaluation fee. However, upon acceptance, authors will be required to pay the publication fee. Members of the Brazilian Botanical Society (Sociedade Botânica do Brasil – SBB), are exempt from fees for one article per year.

We emphasize that, as a journal maintained by a scientific society supported mainly by memberships, we are unable to waive the article fee, even for corresponding authors residing in low- and middle-income countries and territories.

Why Are Publication Fees Charged?

Acta Botanica Brasilica is proudly published on behalf of Sociedade Botânica Brasileira, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing botanical research globally. We depend entirely on the support of our members to sustain our operations and uphold the quality of our publications.

Publication fees directly contribute to maintaining the high standard of Acta Botanica Brasilica. They enable us to enlist professional copy editors who refine the language and structure of articles, ensuring clarity and coherence. Additionally, fees cover the meticulous styling and layout of each article, including thorough checks of citations and references.

Additionally, they help cover a plagiarism detection software to uphold the integrity of the research we publish. Your fees help cover the costs of employing such tools, safeguarding against academic misconduct, and preserving the credibility of published work.

It's important to note that all members of the editorial board and reviewers generously volunteer their time and expertise to support the journal's mission. Your fees primarily support the above mentioned professional services, allowing our volunteers to focus solely on the academic merit of submitted manuscripts.
